Fruits/Vegetables that Pets Should Avoid

Fruits and vegetables can be a great option for your dog or cat, especially for a low-calorie treat between meals.

But did you know that many fruits and vegetables can be toxic to your pet?

What are the best options?

  • Apple pieces, but avoid the seeds and stem.
  • Bananas are also good for your pet, but higher in calories.
  • Watermelon, again avoiding the seeds and rind.
  • Chopped carrots, probably the best option on this list!
  • Peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Celery
  • Pumpkin
  • Broccoli
  • Indian wheat (do not give the ear)

Above all, avoid :

  • All forms of grapes
  • Avocado
  • Asparagus
  • Mushrooms
  • Rhubarb
  • Macadamia nuts
  • Onion
  • Peach and plum pits
  • Garlic
  • Cherry

If in doubt, avoid all other foods. Consult your veterinarian for more details.
